The final… what a day that was. Nothing could take our minds off that evening. A full season of hard work all came down to one game. The pressure was on, but the Heath took the battle head on with no fear.
It was a nervy first 20 minutes from the Heath and Danny definitely let the boys know it wasn’t good enough. The reaction was exactly what champions are made of. The lads stepped it up and soon took the lead. After a first half that felt like it went on forever, the whistle finally went with the Heath 1-0 up.
At half-time the gaffa’s tactics were spot on. Danny had every single player fired up and ready to achieve what the Heath always do — fight for each other.
Dynamo came out strong in the second half and stopped the Heath from really settling. One mistake was all they needed and they punished it. Great delivery, great finish, 1-1, and the nerves went through the roof.
But the Heath weren’t finished.
After immense battling and determination, the Heath took control again and nicked another goal. Great play, great finish, and suddenly it was 2-1 to the Heath.
Then came the longest 13+ minutes imaginable. Every tackle, every clearance, every second mattered. When that final whistle finally blew, the Heath found themselves champions.
A season of hard work, belief and togetherness ended in the best way possible. Champions.
