The lads were buzzing and full of energy around the game, but you could see out on the pitch that tired legs were starting to show. It wasn’t the Heath at their free-flowing best. possession was loose at times, play became scrappy and the sharpness we’re used to seeing just wasn’t quite there.
That said, good sides find a way.
AFC Bethwin certainly didn’t make it easy and battled hard throughout, making The Heath work for every moment. Despite not being at their slickest, Northumberland Heath still managed to control large spells of the game and dig deep when it mattered.
Truthfully, it could even have ended differently. Bethwin thought they had found a decisive moment, only for the offside flag to come to The Heath’s rescue and keep things level.
Not every performance is perfect, and sometimes football is about grit more than glamour. Tired or not, the lads got the job done and champions always find a way. 🦊
