NORTHUMBERLAND HEATH FC vs afc oldsmiths

The scoreline speaks for itself, but the performance tells a slightly more honest story — and there's always room to improve.

The opening 15-20 minutes were a bit chaotic, which was perhaps to be expected after the Christmas break. We struggled to get hold of the ball and, truthfully, made things more difficult for ourselves than necessary.

Once we settled, though, we found our rhythm and from that point on the game was firmly ours.

We went into half-time 4-0 up and never looked back, eventually running out 9-0 winners at full time. The opposition simply couldn't live with us.

That said, credit where it's due - their winger was a standout, clearly carrying much of the threat for his side. His pace and technique didn't go unnoticed, with plenty of spectators commenting on his quality. Fair play to him.

The first-half goals came from Charlie, two from Georgie, and an absolute screamer from Q. The second half brought five more: another two from Georgie, another for Charlie, a cheeky finish from Scotty, and a second quality strike from Q. On another day, the scoreline could have been even more emphatic, with plenty of chances created but not taken — though it's hard to complain with nine goals on the board.

As a cup fixture, the result doesn't affect our league position but does see us progress into the next round. It also means we'll be facing this opposition again — possibly twice - as we share the same league. With Oldsmiths currently sitting at the foot of the table, we'll approach those future fixtures with confidence.

We wish Oldsmiths the best of luck for the remainder of their league and cup fixtures, until next time.
