AMG BALLERZ VS NORTHUMBERLAND HEATH FC

What a game to be part of. Knowing AMG Ballerz were playing a league and two divisions above us, we were fully aware we were facing a real test - one the boys were more than ready for.

Watching from the sidelines, I felt our actual footballing quality was stronger on the night. While the opposition relied heavily on the long-ball approach, we looked composed, brave in possession, and willing to play. With more regular experience against teams at that level, genuinely believe the result could have swung in our favour.

We certainly gave them a challenge, and their celebrations at the final whistle said it all. They knew just how hard they had to fight for that win. Our boys gave absolutely everything. Despite the disappointment of the result, they should walk away with their heads held high.

The game itself was end-to-end, almost like watching a game of tennis. Possession was fairly even, with us edging it at 55%. We went into halftime at 0-0, unsure of what the second half would bring — or whether penalties might be needed to decide it.

We struck first, only for them to respond quickly. They took the lead, we replied with a well-earned penalty, and then, cruelly, a free kick conceded in a dangerous area allowed them to score with just minutes remaining. Shortly after, the final whistle blew.

The second half was packed with intensity, energy, and fantastic support from the crowd. As always, there are lessons to be taken, and plenty of positives to build on. Hopefully, this won't be the last time we meet - because on another night, the outcome could easily be different.
