NORTHUMBERLAND HEATH FC vs chelsfield fc
Now that was an intense game.
It really could have gone either way. Each time we took the lead, the opposition responded quickly, leaving the score level at half-time (1–1) and again at full-time (2–2).
The match was tough throughout. Chelsfield are an older, more experienced side and they put in a serious shift, giving us a real run for our money. It was a highly competitive contest and a challenge we were more than happy to accept.
After more than 100 minutes of football, penalties were needed to decide it. Twelve shots in total were taken, with two from each side having to be retaken due to the keepers stepping off the line. But the moment that mattered most came when our number 1 saved the same penalty twice in a row — giving us the edge and sealing the win.
We welcome challenges like this. Games of this calibre help us grow, learn, and build strength, both individually and as a team, as we continue to climb the league ladder.
However.. having said all of this, the official did not complete their job properly on this day... which now means we will be facing Chelsfield again in a rematch on Wednesday 18th February 2026. It is really and truly going to be an interesting encounter.
